
Risk Analysis

Some of the risks included issues involving technology integration, funding, and operation risks to be classified under different categories or “buckets” during a brainstorming session. The Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS) splits risks into three categories that are pertinent to our project: management, technical and social. Each risk that was proposed was classified under one of these categories and then analyzed based on the template of the risk register (see attached).

For each risk, the team ranked based on the likelihood and consequence. This process was done according to the PMBOK qualitative risk analysis. This analysis prioritizes risk based the probability of occurrence and its impact on the project completion. Additionally, a responsible party was assigned to be in charge and monitor these risks.

A total of seven threats were developed for the risk register. Of those threats, three are categorized as high risk, three are medium risk, and one is low risk. The mitigation plan is performed by the University of Houston committee. The mitigation plan is generally multifaceted to tackle the risk from different directions and achieve a reduction of likelihood or consequence. The risk register is shown below:
